ANDOVER, Kan. - The Hutch High Salthawk girls season came to a close on Saturday evening with a 47-23 loss to the #1 ranked and class 5A #1 seeded Andover girls team in sub-state play.
Hutch jumped out on top 2-0 early and led 4-2 before Andover settled in to build a 24 to 8 half time lead.
The second half went Andover's way as well taking advantage of Salthawk turnovers while getting balanced scoring from Utah signee Brooke Walker with 11 and former Salthawk Aliyah Green with 9. Junior guard Katie Evens added 8, plus 5 apiece for Bella Bouddhara, Alana Shetlar and Brodie Christenson.
Hutchinson was led by Grace Posch with 10, followed by senior Kaia Smith with 4, Kolbie Craft 3, Lily Rodriquez 2, Azariah Dawes 2 and Rachal Tomac 2.
Hutchinson finishes the season at 13 and 9 but Coach Kalen Hilst was possitive noting he has a good group returning squad for next season with Posch, Rodriquez and Craft returning. Seniors Dawes, Tomac and Smith will be gone due to graduation.
Andover stays undefeated at 22-0 and will play Wichita-Bishop Carroll in Emporia on Thursday.
