Two Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball 2021 signees will play in the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game on Saturday in Salina.
Hayley Hughes from Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School and Natalie Payne from Shawnee Mission South will both play for the Gold All-Stars.
The KBCA Girls All-Star Game will tip off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.
Hughes will come into the Blue Dragon women’s basketball program as Trinity Catholic’s career scoring leader and career leader in four other statistical categories. She scored 1,307 points in her Celtic career and tallied 390 rebounds, 270 assists and 171 steals while shooting 74 percent from the free-throw line to re-write the record book.
The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 22.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in the 2020-21 season for Trinity Catholic. She earned Class 2A second-team KBCA all-state honors.
Payne is a 5-11 guard who averaged 18.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game this past season at Shawnee Mission South. She earned KBCA Class 6A all-state honorable mention honors.
