HutchCC golf still atop rankings

Heading into its final fall tournament of 2021, the defending national champion Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team remained No. 1 in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek rankings by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Hutchinson garnered 4 of the 5 first-place votes and holds a narrow two-point lead in the poll over Midland College. The Chaps had the other first-place vote.

Hutchinson, Midland and several of the Top 10 teams will compete in the NJCAA National Preview on Nov. 4-5 at the Odessa Country Club in Odessa, Texas, site of the 2022 NJCAA Men’s Division I Championship.

So far this fall, the Blue Dragons won the Missouri Southern Fall Classic, finished fourth at the Ryan Palmer Classic and was second at the Midwestern State Classic. Those tournaments were against primarily NCAA Division II programs.

Hutchinson has had 13 consecutive Top 5 team finishes.

The Top 5 of the poll as Hutchinson, Midland, McLennan, Central Alabama and Eastern Florida State. Garden City made a four-spot jump to sixth District III rival Iowa Western is eighth in the latest poll.
