HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 11-ranked HutchCC women’s basketball team finished the first semester with a 72-47 win over the Cowley Tigers on Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Hutchinson (12-0, 6-0 KJCCC) used a 21-0 run in the first half to build a 33-14 halftime lead.
Cowley (7-6, 1-6) went on an eight minute scoring drought in the first half during the Blue Dragon run.
The Blue Dragons turned up the defensive intensity in the third quarter and knocked down five three-point shots to lead 61-31 after three.
Hailey Jackson led the Blue Dragons with a career-high 26 points. Kiki Smith finished with 17 and Monae Duffy added 12.
Hutchinson out-rebounded the Tigers, 45-30, and the Blue Dragons assisted on 20 of 27 field goals made.
The Blue Dragons are off until Wednesday, Jan. 3 when they travel to El Dorado to play No. 3 Butler.
