HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department announced Thursday that the 2021 Master Police Officers (MPO) have been selected by Chief Jeff Hooper. The two new MPOs are Cory Schmidt and Enrique Rodriguez.
The MPO position is a yearly position where the officer must meet stringent qualifications in order to get or maintain the position of MPO. The position is not a promotion and is not a supervisor position, it is a position where the department can develop those officers who show they are the best of the best and prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow. MPOs will be provided additional training and given more responsibilities to hone their skills.
MPOs can be recognized by their special badge and gold-in-color collar brass.
