TAMPA, Fla. — Behind a four-run first inning, South Florida evened the series with a 5-0 win over Wichita State Saturday afternoon.

Wichita State (19-16, 10-7) managed just one hit in the contest on a fourth inning leadoff single from CC Wong. Wong was the only Shocker to reach base all game on a single and a walk.

Alex Aguilar (6-4) had a tough first inning but settled down over the next four innings. In total, she allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk. Chloe Barber tossed an inning of relief, walking two and striking out one.

South Florida jumped on the Shockers in the bottom of the first behind a four-run inning, and that would prove to be more than enough run support. The Bulls pounded out four hits, including a pair of doubles, and a walk to put the Shockers in an early hole. The Bulls added an insurance run in the fifth.

Wichita State and South Florida meet for the final time this weekend on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
