Driver avoids injury after I-70 truck crash, fire

Geary County Fire along with Riley County Fire responded to Interstate 70 just east of Deep Creek Road, 20 miles east of Junction City at 10 p. m. on Saturday.

A semi carrying bleach products was on fire.  Manhattan Fire HazMat team also responded.

The fire was knocked down and there were no injuries. HazMat Response from Kansas City responded to the scene to do cleanup. Traffic was initially reduced down to one lane eastbound but the trailer was unloaded on Sunday and removed while eastbound traffic was restored to two lanes about 6 p.m. 

The driver of the semi was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by Riley County EMS and did not require transport to a hospital.
