HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson will hold the annual City-Wide Cleanup May 30 and 31.

Dumpsters will be placed at 14 locations around the city where residents can dispose of unwanted items.

There are limits to what can be placed in the dumpster. Residents are asked not to dispose of tires, tree limbs or grass clippings, hazardous waste or large metal items like appliances, bicycles, and lawn mowers.

The city also wants to remind residents that TECH no longer recycling e-waste and the prison no longer recycles mattresses. These items can be brought directly to the landfill.

Hutchinson Police appoint first two Master Police Officers

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police department implemented what is called a Master Police Officers program or MPO. The MPO program was put in place for a multitude of reasons, but the main reason is that as a department, they wanted to invest in their people to make the future leaders in the department.

On Wednesday the department promoted its first two officers as Master Police Officer. Jake Graber and Tony Garcia are the first Master Police Officers for the Hutchinson Police Department!

The officers will receive specialized training in the area of police work and leadership and will be given more responsibilities to help in their building of being the best of the best.

The MPO position had tough requirements and only two officers that submitted for the position obtained it. The MPO is a yearly assignment and to become or retain the title of MPO the officer will have to meet the requirements every year.
