HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police department implemented what is called a Master Police Officers program or MPO. The MPO program was put in place for a multitude of reasons, but the main reason is that as a department, they wanted to invest in their people to make the future leaders in the department.

On Wednesday the department promoted its first two officers as Master Police Officer. Jake Graber and Tony Garcia are the first Master Police Officers for the Hutchinson Police Department!

The officers will receive specialized training in the area of police work and leadership and will be given more responsibilities to help in their building of being the best of the best.

The MPO position had tough requirements and only two officers that submitted for the position obtained it. The MPO is a yearly assignment and to become or retain the title of MPO the officer will have to meet the requirements every year.
