The street ball scene remains on hiatus around the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That includes the iconic courts in New York since Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered the rims at 80 playgrounds around the city to be removed because people weren't adhering to social distancing. While New York state is slowly taking steps to reopening this month, recreation activities in the city aren’t set to be addressed for several weeks. It’s left open the possibility that courts such as Rucker Park, which are all as much a part of New York’s basketball culture as the Knicks and Madison Square Garden, could remain silenced into summer.
