HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Emergency Management Director Adam Weishaar believes the county is on solid footing at the moment when it comes to Personal Protective Equipment.

"It looks like we have plenty right now, at least for the next 30 days or so," Weishaar said.

That's because they are using a lot less of it.

"Our burn rates are significantly down from what they were when all this started," Weishaar said. "At the height of it, we were somewhere between 1600-1800 N95 masks per day. The latest burn rate was right at 340. Surgical masks, that's gone up quite a bit. I think, a big piece of that is everyone going into our medical care facilities are wearing surgical masks."

The burn rate on surgical masks is 2500 per day.

"Face shield usage is significantly down," Weishaar said. "We're at 55 face shields per day. That's down from over 500 a day at the height of this. Surgical gowns has remained about average, right around 2000 per day. Surgical gowns is what we've been having issues getting."

Weishaar says that's a nationwide problem, but as far as he's concerned Kansas is doing much better in terms of supply chain than they were in previous weeks.
