Galena boys win at 3A state over Burlington 61-54

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Galena Bulldogs beat the Burlington Wildcats 61-54 Wednesday night at the Hutchinson Sports Arena to cap off the first day of play at the Class 3A state basketball tournament.

Galena got out of the gate early and led by 10 after one quarter 19-9. Burlington bounced back and made a game of it and tied the score at halftime at 26. Galena took the lead in the third and led by five after three, 38-33.

Galena's Tyler Little was the star of the night with 24 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Bulldogs. Brett Sarwinski had 15 points. Logan Henderson had 11 points.

Galena made its living at the charity stripe going 25 of 40 from the line, compared to Burlington's 4 of 8 mark. Trevr Bahr was the only double figure scorer for the Wildcats, who end their season at 18-6. Bahr had 20 points.

The now 19-5 Bulldogs will face the St. Mary's Bears at 8:15 Friday night. St. Mary's upset Haven earlier on Wednesday.
