DODGE CITY, Kan. - Few would have their brackets filled out with Barton and Butler in the women's Region VI basketball finals, but the two Cinderella teams will meet for the championship at 5:00pm Tuesday night in United Wireless Arena in Dodge City.
The men's final will feature Butler and Coffeyville. Butler, under first-year head coach and former Coffeyville assistant Kyle Fisher, advanced by beating Colby 98-97 in a double overtime thriller. Fisher and his Grizzlies will face a veteran Coffeyville squad led by Jay Herkelman. The Red Ravens beat high-scoring Cowley 87-83 in the other Monday night semifinal.
The Barton women beat tournament favorite Hutchinson 58-57 in their semifinal shootout, while Butler advanced by knocking off the ranked Seward County women 70-65.
