HUTCHINSON, Kan. -The Hutchinson Salthawk Boys basketball team pushed the Newton Railers to the edge, but couldn't quite get over the edge at Newton pulled away late to win 64-59 at the Salthawk Activity Center Monday night.

The game was tied at 32-32 at the half as the largest lead for Newton was 7 points on a couple of late possessions, and Hutchinson once led by 4 for their largest lead.

The Salthawks were led in scoring by Senior Center Westin Kraus with a career high 27 points.  Junior Treyton Peterson added 18 as other Salthawks provided great efforts in Hutchinson's final home game of the season.

Hutchinson will close out their regular season with a trip to Derby tonight and travel to Haysville-Campus on Friday.

Hutchinson will not qualify for Sub-State play as the 17th and 18th ranked teams on the West side of 6A will not advance.  The team that Hutchinson was to play had the option to decline hosting that game.
