The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team will meet the Allen Red Devils in the opening round of the 2020 Region VI Men's Basketball Tournament this Wednesday, February 26.
The game will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons will be the eighth-overall seed for the Region VI Tournament after finishing in a third-place tie in the Jayhawk West with a 13-8 league record. This is the lowest seed the Blue Dragons have had in the regional tournament since the 2009 season.
Allen (16-14) is the No. 9 overall seed in the tournament after a fifth-place finish in the Jayhawk East.
The Blue Dragons enter the tournament winning 5 of their last 6 games. That followed a stretch of 6 losses in their previous 11 games.
One of those losses was an 87-80 setback to the Red Devils on January 4 at the Sports Arena.
The Hutchinson/Allen winner will advance to the Region VI Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday, March 1 at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City. The Blue Dragons or Red Devils will play the tournament top seed Cowley Tigers at 1 p.m.
Tickets for Wednesday's opening-round game will go on sale for season tickets holders only on Monday at 8 a.m. at the Sports Arena. Season ticket holders will be able to purchase their seats on Monday only through 5 p.m. The remaining tickets will go on sale to the public at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Because this is a Region VI event, Blue Dragon All-Sports tickets will not be valid.
