Blue Dragons take two from Barton; Men win in OT

GREAT BEND, Kan. - The Hutchinson Blue Dragon Women set the stage for a big showdown on Saturday at the sports arena with a 86-67 win over the Barton Cougar Women's team on Wednesday in front of a capacity crowd in Great Bend.

Tor'e Alford led Hutchinson in scoring with a career high 24 point including 7 treys on 7-9 shooting from outside the arc.  Brooklyn had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Makayla Vannett added 12 points and Lauryn Mapasua added 11 in the win.

The Men's game was a little more exciting as the Blue Dragons won in overtime 96-91.

After the game was tied in regulation 76-76, both teams stayed within a point of each other exchanging leads and ties throughout the overtime period.

Saquan Singleton took a charge with 3.0 seconds to go after a Josh Baker free throw had given Hutch the lead 92-91.  A technical foul was called on Barton's head coach Craig Fletchall  for bumping into an official and Tyler Brown's two free throws plus a quick foul by Barton let to DJ Mitchell sealing the win with two free throws to seal the overtime victory 96-91.

Both Hutchinson vs Barton match ups went overtime this year with Barton winning in Hutchinson on January 29th 102-95.

Hutchinson finishes the regular portion of the season's schedule by hosting Seward County on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
