HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Members of the Hutchinson Public Schools Board of Education received their evening water from a different source Monday.

Instead of Board members pouring the water for themselves at the table, bottled water was delivered to them by Hutchinson Middle School–8 students and their Vex robots. The robotics demonstration came from students in Mike Nugent’s robotics class. The students rolled bottled water to the Board.

Pre-and post-class surveys of students in Nugent’s classes were presented to the board. They showed students changed their attitudes positively toward STEM studies. Students also reported wanting to do more classes with robotics, engineering, and hands-on learning after the robotics class.
