2 adults, teen arrested during drug bust at Great Bend apartment

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on drug charges. Just before 2:30p.m. Jan. 24,  the Great Bend Police Department responded to The Reserves at Trail Ridge Apartments located at 811 Grant Street in Great Bend in reference an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Upon arrival, the Great Bend Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant inside apartment #221, where Elijah Cheney, age 22, resides. During a thorough search of the apartment, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and items of evidence for distribution were located inside of the apartment.

Steven Sexton II, age 31, and Cheney were located at the apartment and placed under arrest. A third individual identified as a 17-year-old was  and arrested as well.

Great Bend Police Department K-9 Officer, along with K-9 Menta responded to the scene to assist. Menta indicated to an odor of illegal narcotics coming from Sexton's vehicle. The vehicle was secured and a second search warrant for the vehicle was executed for illegal narcotics.

During the execution of the vehicle search, Great Bend Police detectives located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.

Cheney and Sexton were transported to the Barton County Detention Center and booked in lieu of bond. The juvenile female was arrested and later released to Juvenile Intake.
