HUTCHINSON, Kan. - It will be a new look for the Hutchinson City Council when their regular meeting convenes on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin with the swearing in of two new council members. The new council members are Sara Bagwell who defeated Mayor Dave Inskeep and Steve Garza who defeated Steve Dechant in the November election. After a short reception, the new council will get down to business. The Council will consider letters of support to the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for Interfaith Housing and Disability Supports of the Great Plains.

Both agencies are applying for tax credits for three different housing projects. The Council will also consider a request for $50,000 for a social detox and inpatient treatment center as part of the New Beginnings Walnut Court Apartments. The hope is to improve intervention in drug abuse and overdoses and ease pressure on the jail by providing a detox center.

Tuesday’s meeting of the Hutchinson City Council begins at 9 a.m. at the Hutchinson city offices.
