Top property taxpayers list for Reno Co.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The value of the top 10 property taxpayers in Reno County jumped above the $100 million mark in 2019.

The list released Thursday from the County Clerk's office shows the top 10 companies in Reno County carried a total valuation of $105.09 million in 2019 compared with $96.87 million.

Westar was at the top of the list once again. The utility paid nearly $7.4 million in property taxes on a total assessed valuation of just over $47 million.

BNSF was next on the list. The nation’s second-largest railroad paid out more than $1.7 million in property taxes with an assessed valuation of $11.2 million. Panhandle Eastern, Union Pacific and Mid-American Pipeline rounded out the top five.

ADM was 13th on the list with taxes paid of $409,601. Tyson Foods was 20th on the list at $285,461 and Collins Bus was 35th out of 100 at $196,199.
