The gymnasium at the Hutchinson Salvation Army is filled with toys as they hold their Christmas distribution to those in need. More than 700 families signed up for assistance this year.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Salvation Army started the process of serving those in need during the Christmas holiday Wednesday.

Vehicles lined up in front of the SA offices to receive food boxes for those families without children. More than 400 signed up for assistance for today’s distribution.

On Thursday the Salvation Army will hand out food baskets and toys to families with children. More than 300 families have signed up for assistance for Thursday.

The bell-ringing campaign continues with a goal of $60,000. As of last weekend, the SA was more than 2/3rds of the way to that goal.
