SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- A major step was taken today in the final phase of the Reno County Veterans Memorial in South Hutchinson.

A contract was signed and a check for $100,000 was presented to LeDuc Memorials of Concordia Kansas to do the granite panels that will bear the names of the veterans on the memorial.

The granite panels are the final phase of the project which has been in the works for nearly six years. The committee behind the memorial is going over the names of the veterans and hope is that the panels will be ready for installation next year.

In the meantime, work continues to raise the remaining funds needed to finish the memorial. Committee President Kelly Danyluk says they are working with several entities to raise the needed money to complete the project.
