HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Local attorney and Hutchinson Municipal Court Judge Tad Dower has announced he will run against District Attorney Keith Schroeder for judge. The news comes as District Judge Tim Chambers announced this week he will not seek re-election for the Division II seat.

Dower also serves as a member of the Hutchinson school board with a term lasting until 2022.

Both Dower and Schroeder will run as Republicans for that seat on the bench.

Dower practices law with the Gilliland Green law firm in Hutchinson. According to that website, Dower practices in family law including divorce, child custody and adoption cases. He also handles premises liability, auto negligence and personal injury cases.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, he attended the University of Kansas before graduating from Washburn University School of Law in 1986. He was admitted to practice that same year.

In addition to being a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Hutchinson, he also serves as chairman of the Reno County Bench/Bar Committee.

So far, no one has announced to run for the seat on the Democratic side.
