HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Tyson Foods is planning a small expansion of its Hutchinson facility along South Main.

The Hutchinson Planning Commission is looking over the proposal for additional work and storage space. The proposal calls for expanding the facility along a small area on the north side of the plant along West Avenue E.

The expansion would allow for more than 5,000 square feet of additional work area and another 530 square feet of warehouse and storage space. Tyson says no jobs will be created or lost with the expansion. Tyson currently employs about 160 workers at the South Main facility. The matter is currently under site plan review by the planning commission and is not up for action during next week’s meeting.

No other details were provided and no date has been set for when construction could begin. Tuesday’s meeting of the Hutchinson Planning Commission begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Hutchinson city offices.
