
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees will take action on a new position that will provide more educational opportunities for inmates at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
The new position, Correctional Education Coordinator, will assist inmates with everything from finding grants to getting proper class training and other vocational opportunities. The coordinator will also work with Greenbush who provides the education resources for inmates in the prison. The person will work under the Business and Industry department at the college.
Also Thursday, the Board will sign a new agreement with Phelps Health for a clinic affiliation agreement for the Allied Health program and seek approval of a resolution for the college to go after a Rural Business Development Grant that will be used for the new CDL courses that are being offered at the college. The grant totals just over $94,000 and will be used for a commercial truck driving simulator.
Thursday’s meeting of the HutchCC Board of Trustees begins at 7 p.m. at the Shears Technology Center.
