GODDARD, Kan. — Jax Heneha has had some big nights as a student-athlete at Hutchinson High School, but Tuesday night had to stack up with one of the greats. The senior guard poured in a career-high 26 points in a 70-54 win over Eisenhower.

Hutchinson (12-3) jumped on the Tigers early and often, beginning the game on a 9-0 run, forcing an Eisenhower timeout two minutes in. The Salthawks kept the gas pedal pushed, outscoring the Tigers, 16-4 in the first period.

Heneha kept the momentum going in the second quarter, knocking down three of his game-high six made 3-pointers to go in to the halftime break with 16 points. The Salthawks led at half, 36-18.

The Salthawks built a 23-point lead early in the second half, their largest lead of the game. Eisenhower did not shy away though, outscoring the Salthawks in the second half, 36-34, but the margin of lead was too far out of reach for the Tigers.

Hutchinson has now won three straight games and will travel to Maize on Friday for a rematch against the Eagles, who nipped the Salthawks, 47-44 two weeks ago.

Devon Spiller finished with 13 and Terrell King also chipped in with 11 to join Heneha in double-figure scoring. Tai Clark finished with six, Daylee VanSyckle five, Treyden Tecklenburg three, Tramel Walker, Draydon Hippen and Lucas Witt each added two.
