Reno County teams to play on final day of basketball season

It's the final day of the eight state basketball tournaments in Kansas and the Reno County schools that are still playing include the Central Christian girls, who will play for third this afternoon in Great Bend at 1A Division II against Hanover after losing in a state semifinal yesterday to Golden Plains from Rexford 33-23.

Also alive and playing for a state title are the Pretty Prairie girls in 1A Division I, as they won 37-32 over Hodgeman County on Friday to advance. They will play undefeated Centralia at 6 p.m. tonight in Dodge City for the title.

Nickerson's girls will play for third against Silver Lake at Class 3A girls after losing to Hugoton 59-52 on Friday. That is the 2 p.m. game at the Sports Arena.

The full schedule at the Sports Arena today is as follows: Southeast of Saline and Thomas More Prep will play at noon for third in boys, then the Nickerson-Silver Lake game at 2, then the Hesston boys will play Royal Valley from Hoyt for the boys title at 4 p.m. and the girls title game between Goodland and Hugoton is scheduled for 6:15 tonight.
