HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Landmarks Commission will receive an update on the city's attempt to get a grant for a study on what can be done with Memorial Hall through the Historic Preservation Fund as part of its meeting on Thursday.
A meeting was due to happen last month with firms interested in putting together a preservation and reuse plan identifying best possible uses in the future that would make Memorial Hall a year around asset to the community. This grant must maintain the historic character of the building.
The main issue community members see as a concern with the hall is getting air conditioning in the building and a new roof.
The Landmarks Commission is also discussing the Historic Preservation Ordinance, which was last updated in 2016.
The Hutchinson Landmarks Commission will meet Thursday, August 25 at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room at 125 East Avenue B.
