HARVEY COUNTY —The Harvey County Sheriff's Office, along with local law enforcement agencies in Harvey County and the Kansas Highway Patrol, will partner to conduct a DUI check lane this weekend.

The check lane will begin Saturday evening and continue into Sunday. The intent of the check lane is to educate drivers about the dangers of driving while intoxicated, as well as removing any drivers from the roadway that are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

There were 2,226 alcohol-related crashes in Kansas in 2020, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation, including 831 injury accidents and 85 fatalities.

Driving under the influence not only puts yourself in danger, but also passengers, other drivers on the road and pedestrians. If you choose to drink, please plan ahead to find a safe way home.
