🏊‍♀️ Buhler swimmers claim first-ever meet win

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — For the first time in program history, the Buhler High School girls swim team won a meet, claiming their home invitational on Wednesday afternoon at the Hutchinson YMCA.

In the 200 Medley Relay, the A relay placed 4- Shaylin Petz, Addy Tech, Aivlynn Ehmke, and Grace Schmidt. The B relay placed 8th - Avery Schrader, Jordan Spencer, Ellie Goering, and Brayla Johnson.

Shaylin Petz finished 2nd in the 200 freestyle, with a state consideration time, followed by Reyne Kaufman in 6th place, Mckenna Nuttman in 11th, and Cassidy Banning in 14th.

Addy Tech swam the IM this meet, placing 7th. Madison Staib and Cathlyna Theriot placed 10th and 13th, with Jordan Spencer in 15th.

The 50 freestyle was next. Aivlynn Ehmke took 3rd, with Grace Schmidt in 8th.

In the 100 Butterfly, Avery Schrader placed 4th. Ellie Goering earned 7th place, Brayla Johnson 9th, and Shelbi Brady 11th.

Aivlynn Ehmke placed 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, just shy of a consideration time for state. Grace Schmidt followed closely behind with an 8th-place finish.

There were 4 girls in the 500 Freestyle, and it took all 4 of them to place as high as they could to help the team. Shaylin Petz once again broke her own record in this event, but this time was able to earn a state consideration time, taking first overall in the event. Madison Staib placed 3rd, Reyne Kaufman earned 6th and Cathlyna placed 9th.

In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Relay A placed 4th - Grace Schmidt, Addy Tech, Reyne Kaufman, and Madison Staib. Relay B placed 10th - Cassidy Banning, Cathlyna Theriot, Ellie Goering, and Shelbi Brady.

Avery Schrader placed 5th in the backstroke with Mckenna Nuttmann right on her heels in 6th. Not to be outdone, Brayla Johnson and Shelbi Brady finished 9th and 11th, respectively.

Addy Tech placed 7st in the 100 Breaststroke. Cassidy Banning placed 12th, Jordan Spencer in 13th, and Ellie Goering in 14th.

In the final event of the night, the 400 Free Relay, Relay A earned 3rd place. Aivlynn Ehmke, Madison Staib, Reyne Kaufman, and Shaylin Petz. Relay B earned 7th place. Cathlyna Theriot, Avery Schrader, McKenna Nuttmann, and Jordan Spencer.
