Kansas deputy accused of domestic violence battery

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a sheriff's deputy for alleged domestic violence battery.

On Saturday, police arrested 25-year-old Deputy Kelly Geiger who was involved in a disturbance with an intimate partner, with whom she shares a residence, according to  Sgt. Lanon Thompson.

 The Kansas State Statute reads as follows: KS 21-5414 (a) Domestic Battery is (1) “Knowingly or recklessly causing bodily harm by a family member or household member: (b)(1) is a class B person misdemeanor.”

Geiger has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for 6 years.

In addition to the criminal case, an investigation is also being conducted by the Professional Standards Unit of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
