Monarchs to hold Cancer Awareness Night Saturday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs annual Cancer Awareness Night is coming up this Saturday.

As they do each year, the Monarchs players will wear special jerseys on Saturday. This year they’ll be lime green, for Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the cancer that claimed Dan Stoecklein's life. The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the evening, meaning you’ll have the chance to buy a shirt right off the back of a player.

All of the proceeds will benefit the Cancer Council of Reno County. Besides the jerseys there will be a few unique items available in the auction as well, including special bats the players will use in the game, and the team will autograph.

The price of admission this Saturday? Technically, there isn’t one. Marc and Kim waive the regular admission cost for this game each year and instead offer the opportunity for attendees to leave an offering to benefit those impacted by cancer.
