DERBY, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs (12-3) defeat the Derby Twins 5-2 to open the 4 game series.
Monarch's catcher Garrett Stephens got things going in the 2nd inning by smashing a 2 run homer off a 3-2 pitch thrown by Brenton Thiels.
Drew Reetz stayed hot for Hutchinson going 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Hutchinson Monarchs in hits.
Preston Snavely got the win. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out five.
Same two teams meet Monday night at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson, first pitch at 7 pm.
