The Hutchinson Community College softball team’s 2024 season opener scheduled for Saturday against the Ottawa University JV has been postponed.

The postponement was prompted by field conditions at Fun Valley.

The Blue Dragons open the new season at No. 17 in the NJCAA Division I Softball preseason rankings. They won a school-record 44 games last season, going 44-8 with a Jayhawk Conference championship and a Region VI Tournament runner-up finish.

Hutchinson and Ottawa are planning to reschedule the doubleheader, but no date has been announced yet.

Next on the schedule for Hutchinson is back-to-back weekend doubleheaders at Neosho County on February 9 in Chanute and at NEO on February 10 in Miami, Oklahoma.

The 2024 home opener is now slated for February 22 when Colby comes to Fun Valley to open Jayhawk Conference play.
