Wichita, KS – The Wind Surge smacked a pair of two-run homers by Andrew Bechtold and Dennis Ortega, but once again fell short to Northwest Arkansas in a 8-5 loss. That puts the Surge at 0-5 on the young season.

Matt Canterino returned as the starting pitcher for Wichita, pitched an inning and two thirds before being relieved by Ben Gross. With two outs on the board, Gross retired the final Natural at the bottom of the second. He continued to work the mound, retiring three batters in a row.

After Seuly Matias put the first runs on the board for the Naturals, with his sacrifice fly ball, Bechtold responded with a two-run homer that traveled an estimated 365 feet.

The lead did not last long, as the Naturals tied the score in the bottom of the second, and scored two additional runs in the fifth.

Going four innings without a run, Ortega slammed the Surge’s second two-run homer of the night that traveled an estimated 384 feet. Tied 4-4, the Naturals put up 4 runs at the bottom of the seventh regaining the lead for the rest of the night.

Wichita continues their series against the Naturals Thursday evening (4/14). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
