🏀 WBB: No. 1 HutchCC opens NJCAA National Tournament Wednesday with No. 16 Cochise

CASPER, Wyo. — The No. 1 Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team will open play at the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball National Tournament on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. CT/2:30 p.m. MT against No. 16 Cochise (AZ).

Cochise (26-7) defeated No. 17 Chattanooga State, 72-43 in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday morning.

The Blue Dragons and Apaches have never faced each other in the national tournament.

Hutchinson (33-0) will be making its 12th appearance in the national tournament and have a record of 20-12.

Cochise is coached by Dighton, Kansas native, Misty Opat. Opat played in the Jayhawk Conference at Garden City and then finished her playing career at Bethany College in Lindsborg. She then obtained her masters degree from Fort Hays State University.

The Blue Dragons' entire NJCAA Tournament run can be heard locally on My 93-1 (KHMY-FM) with Sean Boston on the call in the Cowboy State. The games will also be streamed live on ESPN+.
