HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 Board of Education voted to approve the new COVID-19 Protocol guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year during its regular meeting Monday (August 9, 2021).
The following safety protocols began Wednesday, August 4, 2021, and were officially approved by the Board at Monday’s meeting:
All students, staff and visitors will be required to wear a mask indoors in all USD 308 facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
Outdoor activities and events will not require masks, but are recommended.
No temperature checks will occur by the district before entering USD 308 buildings.
It is recommended that staff and families practice home symptom screenings prior to coming to work or school.
COVID-19 vaccination is not required by the district, but it is encouraged to all who are eligible to receive the vaccine.
The Board of Education also heard comments from the community during Public Participation. Melissa Evans, assistant principal at Hutchinson Middle School – 7, expressed gratitude to the Board of Education and the Hutchinson community for their support during her husband’s, Coach Clayton Evans, recovery. Coach Evans was in a serious accident last month resulting in a spinal injury. Many local organizations in the community have rallied together to fundraise for the family. Melissa Evans thanked the Board of Education for their support, and expressed her love for the Hutchinson community.
