
WICHITA, Kan. — The Buhler High School girls bowling team won the KSHSAA Class 4-1A state championship on Wednesday at Bowlero Wichita, the third state title in program history.
The Crusaders trailed Wichita Central Christian by 40 pins going in to the Baker format. That is when Buhler turned the deficit around, earning the 124-pin win. The Crusaders finished with 2,907 total pins to Central Christian's 2, 783.
Buhler was led by Teigan Nielsen with a third place finish with 575 pins. McKenzie Welch joined Nielsen in the top 10 with an eighth place finish 555 series. Sloane Adkins finished just outside the top 10 with a 12th place final score of 521.
Central Christian's Izabella Cunningham took home the individual title with a 609 series, 30 pins better than Brianna Devor of Towanda-Circle's second place finish.
The 2024 state title team will join the 2019 and 2012 teams to also win a state title. Those state titles were combined 5-1A.
The Crusaders were welcomed back to Buhler on Wednesday with a police escort down Main St.
