Update: 10-year-old Kan. boy died from accidental shooting

GEARY COUNTY — Authorities investigating a shooting that claimed the life of 10-year-old rural Geary County boy report it was an accident, according to Captain David Gilbert with the Geary County Sheriff's Department.

Just before 2p.m. June 14, deputies responded to a residence on Clarks Creek Road in reference to a juvenile identified as Grady Erichsen who had been shot. 

EMS transported the boy to Geary County Community Hospital where the he died from his injuries.

The Geary Co. Sheriff’s Office is still waiting on a few items to return, but all signs point to an accidental shooting.

Geary County Sheriff Dan Jackson has identified the juvenile in a fatal shooting incident Sunday as Grady Erichsen, 10, rural Geary County. 

Authorities expect to release more information following the completion of an autopsy in the case.

Just before 2p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Clarks Creek Road after report of a juvenile that had been shot, according to a media release.

EMS transported the juvenile to Geary County Community Hospital where the victim died. 

Authorities released no additional information on Sunday afternoon.
