HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High's girls started slowly on Friday night at the Salthawk Activity Center, but great zone defense led them to a 41-32 triumph over Maize South.
After trailing 7-0 out of the gate, Hutch rallied to within 12-8 after one quarter, tied it at 17 at halftime, locked the Mavericks down defensively in quarter number three to take a 26-19 lead and then pushed through down the stretch on their way to the nine point win.
Hutch High was led by Mya Thompson with 11 points, Grace Posch had 10 and Aliyah Green and Harlie Wilson each had 8.
The Mavericks were led by Isis Sanders with 10 in the loss. Hutch High plays Haysville Campus on Senior Night Tuesday.
