HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Both the Hutch High and Buhler High girls tennis teams shined on Saturday as both teams won their respective tennis regional competition.
Hutch will be sending a complete team to the Class 6A State Tournament at Olathe South High School. State tennis for 6A is held on October 16-17.
Gracie Foster won the singles championship while Tia Hines and Libby Jackson took the doubles championship.
Emilee Railsback finished in fourth place and will also compete in singles competition at state.
Buhler tennis has been playing well all season and won their regional by edging Circle in points 11 to 10.
In singles, Buhler's Brittany Tuefel finished second and Kacey Lehl placed fourth. Both will be representing the Crusaders next weekend in Topeka at the Topeka-Kossover Tennis Center.
In doubles competition, Alexis Hutton and Kayla Babcock placed a strong second place showing and will compete at state.
On a side note, Olivia Frederick was unable to compete due to being exposed to a classmate with Covid-19 and had to be quarantined and could not compete on Saturday.
Class 4A will be held on October 16-17.
