The Hutchinson Community College baseball team announced on Monday that its 2024 season opener will now be this Thursday, February 1 at Hobart-Detter Field.
Trying to take advantage of the warmer weather this week, the Blue Dragons will open the season against Southeast (Nebraska) Community College in a doubleheader at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Hobart-Detter Field.
The season opener was supposed to be Tuesday, February 6 against Central Christian, but with temperatures in the mid- to upper-50s forecast for this Thursday, the Blue Dragons and Bobcats will play two games on Thursday.
The improvised schedule for the Blue Dragons is now:
February 1 – vs. Southeast CC, 1 and 3:30 p.m. at Hobart-Detter Field
February 6 – vs. Central Christian JV, 1 p.m. at Hobart-Detter Field
February 8 – vs. Southeast CC, 1 and 3:30 p.m. at Hobart-Detter Field
February 10 – No games as originally scheduled
