HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Museum is looking forward to letting the public see some of the Pat Mitchell collection. An event to commemorate that is coming up next month.

"We finally have public access to some of Pat Mitchell's images," said Katie Broker with the museum. "We've been working on a digitization project called Pathway to the Past for the past year with Wichita State University and with the help of Hutchinson Community Foundation and Humanities Kansas. December 10th is going to be your first real chance to see those things and get public access inside the museum."

Since it is based online, you can see it now, with an internet connection.

"If you go to our website right now and click on the link for digitization on our front page and under Pat Mitchell's information, who was Pat Mitchell, you'll be able to access that online anytime from anywhere," Broker said. "It's going to include thousands of photos from Hirst Photography and across Hutchinson's history. Right now, we have the first about 2000 available."

The kickoff reception will have some additional information.

"On December 10, we invite you to come out to an opening reception for this project from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.," Broker said. "We'll give a talk about this project. We will have your first look at the Pat Mitchell Research Library upstairs. For the first time ever, we'll have a public computer for public access available."
