2 from Kansas die after 4-vehicle crash in Oklahoma

KAY COUNTY, OK. —Two from  Kansas died in an accident just after 4:30a.m. Tuesday in Kay County Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Nissan Sentra driven by Xavier Mitchell, 22, of Salina, was northbound on interstate 35 just south of Tonkawa. The Nissan traveled off the right side of the road into a barrier wall.

After impact, the car struck a 2021 Chevy Silverado driven by a 57-year-old man from Oklahoma City, a Ford van driven by a 35-year-old woman from Spencer, Oklahoma, and a Kenworth semi driven by a 55-year-old man from Oklahoma City. 

Mitchell and a passenger in the Sentra identified as 21-year-old Kyra Ray of Salina, were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol did not report seat belt usage information.  The crash remains under investigation.
