Monarchs fall short to Rose Hill on the road

ROSE HILL, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs (9-2) suffered only their second loss of the season Tuesday night as the Sluggers defeated the Monarchs 7-2 on the road in Rose Hill.

Hutchinson was held to only 3 hits on the night with Drew Reetz cashing in with two home runs on the day. Reetz put one out in the second and fifth innings as he went 2 for 3 at the plate. Reetz is the first Monarch since Scott Woverton  homered twice in a game at Salina last season.  Reetz is the 9th Monarch  in history with 2 or more home runs in a single game. Hutchinson stranded 3 runners throughout the 9 innings.

Brian Skillman  earned the win for Rose Hill Sluggers. He went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out six and walking one. Grant Adler threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. 

Mikel Howell took the loss for Hutchinson Monarchs. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out two and walking one.  

Next action for the Monarchs will be tonight at Rose Hill.  Hutchinson will return home to close out the series with games Thursday and Friday at Hobart-Detter field.  Friday nights game will be video streamed on hutchpost.com.
