⛳ Big 12 Men's Golf Championship Day 1 Recap from Prairie Dunes

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 2023 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship teed off on Monday morning at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson. The participants representing all ten member universities in the conference played 36 holes throughout the day on Monday.

The Oklahoma Sooners lead the team score through the first two rounds with a 6-under-par total of 554. The Sooners lead play after the first day by 12 strokes over Oklahoma State who shot a 6-over-par total of 566. 

Oklahoma State junior Jonas Baumgartner sits atop the individual leaderboard after firing a 9-under-par total of 131 through the first 36 holes. Baumgartner leads the tournament by two strokes over Texas Tech senior Ludvig Aberg who finished the day 7-under. 

Baumgartner is ranked No. 72 in the latest individual rankings, while Ludvig is No. 2 and is currently the No. 1 amateur in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Ludvig is also the reigning Big 12 individual champion.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are the highest ranked team in the team rankings, currently No. 5 in the country. The Sooners are the defending Big 12 Champions and are No. 10 currently in the collegiate rankings.

Action continues on Tuesday morning with play beginning at 8 a.m. The tournament is free and open to the public. The Championship Round on Wednesday will be streamed on ESPN+.  Live scoring, results, and pairings can be found here.  

Tuesday, April 25
The pairings for Day 2 – third round – will be based on the 36-hole team totals and player rankings within their respective teams. First starting time will be 8:00 a.m. with 9-minute intervals.
8:00 a.m. – 1st Tee - 5th Place, 6th Place
8:22 a.m. – 10th Tee – 7th Place, 8th Place
8:45 a.m. – 1st Tee – 3rd Place, 4th Place
9:07 a.m. – 10th Tee – 9th Place, 10th Place
9:30 a.m. – 1st Tee – 1st Place, 2nd Place

Wednesday, April 26
The pairings for Day 3 – fourth round – will be based on the 54-hole team totals and player rankings within their respective teams. First starting time will be 8:00 a.m. with 9-minute intervals.
8:00 a.m. – 1st Tee - 5th Place, 6th Place
8:22 a.m. – 10th Tee – 7th Place, 8th Place
8:45 a.m. – 1st Tee – 3rd Place, 4th Place
9:07 a.m. – 10th Tee – 9th Place, 10th Place
9:30 a.m. – 1st Tee – 1st Place, 2nd Place

*Note: if for any reason play is discontinued, the next day’s pairings will be based on the most recent completed round’s results*
