
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The South Plains Texans got all they wanted from South Georgia State College, but in the end, some patience and a timely switch from man-to-man to a 2-3 zone late helped them close out a 91-80 win over the Hawks Wednesday afternoon at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
The Texans had six players in double figures, led by Rivaldo Soares with 20 points, Jevonnie Scott had 18 points and five dunks, Dalph Panopio had 13 points, Benjamin Bayela and Myron Gardner each had 12. Philmon Gerewhit added 11.
For South Georgia State, they were led by 18 from Jalen King. Jordan Coffee had 17, Daniel Parrish had 15 and Bryce Brown added 11 before fouling out late.
South Plains will play Ranger College at 6 p.m. on Thursday. South Georgia State ends its campaign at 23-4.
