Springdale, AR - The Wind Surge tallied a season-high 16 hits and battled back from a 4-0 deficit to score six unanswered runs as they beat Northwest Arkansas in a 6-5 thriller in 10 innings.
The Naturals scored four runs in the first three innings off of starter Chris Vallimont.
The Surge started the comeback in the fifth inning. Dennis Ortega drilled 2-run, two out RBI single to left field to cut the Naturals lead in half to 4-2.
Smart baserunning from Austin Martin made the deficit 4-3 as Spencer Steer grounded out to shortstop but a throwing error from Grotjohn allowed Martin to score from first base.
Austin Martin tallied his third hit late in the top of the 8th with an RBI single that scores Andrew Bechtold that tied the game 4-4.
Alex Isola hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field as Leobaldo Cabrera tagged from third base to score which put the Surge ahead 5-4 in the top of the 10th. Kevin Merrell followed with an RBI single to extend the Surge lead to 6-4.
Steven Klimek entered the game in the 10th inning where he gave up an RBI single to shrink the lead to 6-5, followed by a walk to load the bases but got out of the jam.
The Wind Surge bullpen posted another efficient night, pitching 7.2 innings and allowing just 1 run and 10 strikeouts.
The Wind Surge will conclude this six-game series road trip against the Naturals Sunday with a 2:05 first pitch.
