New Mexico Military Institute wins NJCAA football title

Little Rock, AR - No. 2 New Mexico Military Institute maintained a dominant offense to capture the 2021 NJCAA Division I Football Championship Friday night in Little Rock.

Under first-year head coach and former New Mexico Military player, Kurt Taufa'asau, the Broncos defeated Iowa Western, 31-13, marking the first national title in the school's football program history.

Despite early jitters, the Broncos dominated offensively by taking a 24-0 lead at the half. New Mexico extended their advantage to 31-0 in the third before giving up 13 points in the final quarter.

New Mexico Military running back Anthony Grant was named the 2021 Most Valuable Player of the national championship game.

The sophomore running back concluded the title bout with a game-high 34 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns.
