🏈 Salthawks fall to Bishop Carroll 42-28 in Regional play

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutch High Salthawks magical turn around year came to an end Friday night as the Salthawks lost to Wichita Bishop Carroll 42-28 in Regional Playoff action at Gowans Stadium.

Hutchinson had their chances, but Bishop Carroll took advantage of a blocked field goal attempt by Hutchinson with 4 seconds to go before half to give the Golden Eagles a 10 point turnaround touchdown that proved to be the play of the game.

Hutchinson was driving trying to score the go ahead touchdown late when a penalty forced the Salthawks to attempt a 24 yard field goal with time running out in the 2nd quarter. Carter Booe's kick was blocked and returned 84 yards by Carroll's Ryan Birch for a Golden Eagles touchdown to give Carroll the lead 21-14 at intermission.

Hutchinson responded with a 44 yard pass and score from Myles Thompson to Trenton Peterson to tie the game early in the 3rd but the Golden Eagles outscored the Salthawks 3 touchdowns to 1 to close out the victory and advance to take on Maize next week in Sectional play.

Hutchinson ends it season 8-2 while Bishop Carrol is now 7-2.
